What to Expect

You can expect a detailed bid (not estimate) from me explaining what I understand your specific problem to be, its cause(s), the best practice for repairing it, and what materials will be used. There’s no man behind the curtain, I operate in a way that I hope is legible to all my clients. The magic, insofar as there is any is in my skill, experience and curiosity.

I do all the work I bid myself, I don't have a crew, a sales team, an enormous truck or know where to find the classic rock or nü metal stations on the radio.

I will not attempt to sell you work you don't need. At the same time, I won't work for house flippers or similarly motivated people. I'm not a 'jobber' -- sure, I do this to make money, but I have certain ethical standards. I have no problem with people wanting to do repairs before selling their homes or to prepare for new tenants, but I do not lose sight of the fact these are and will be people's homes.

My intention when I take on a project is that my clients never need me or anyone else for that project again. I'm more than happy to do other projects for clients as they come up, but that's a different story.

I do one job at a time. This means that for the time I am on your project, that is the only thing on my plate and I work it Monday to Friday until it is done.

Do I do small jobs? Yes! Sometimes I like to have a few extra days off in a week.

Am I available tomorrow? Probably not, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Smaller jobs are easier to fill in the short term because almost nothing takes exactly 5 or 10 or 15 days and I often have an extra day or two free over a given two week period. If it's really an emergency, the dog won't walk under that growing bulge in the ceiling, for instance, I can at least shore things up until I can properly get to it.

I work primarily in Minneapolis (including Edina, Richfield and other borderlands) and St. Paul, but will travel further afield for interesting projects.
